Adam Sanchez, Public Works Director, answered a question from a listener about the purchase of water rights from Cree Meadows golf course. He also discussed the work underway on the lift station at the corner of Sudderth and Mechem Drive, as well as updates on the roadwork progress on Paradise and Starlight.
Fire Chief Cade Hall emphasized that gas-powered fire pits are not allowed under the current Level 2 fire restrictions. He also reminded listeners that open-flame barbecues are prohibited during these restrictions to help mitigate fire risk.
Michael Martinez, Deputy Village Manager, responded to a listener’s question regarding burned properties, outlining the steps property owners must take to have fire debris properly cleaned up and removed.
Judi Starkovich, Director of Finance, joined the show to discuss the gross receipt taxes (GRT) the Village has received this year. She provided a comparison to previous years to illustrate how the fire recovery efforts have impacted the Village’s GRT revenues.
Kerry Gladden from The Agency explained how the Village of Ruidoso utilizes The Agency for advertising across multiple platforms, including mainstream media (radio, TV, and print) and social media. She also discussed the specific markets being targeted through these advertising efforts.
Dara Jenkins, LEAD (Leading Equine-Assisted Development), appeared on the show to talk about LEAD and to promote their upcoming fundraiser event, which will be held in July at the Ruidoso Jockey Club.
David “TBone” Tetreault, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, provided a recap of the Great America Cleanup event held this past weekend. He shared that over 130 volunteers participated, collecting more than 240 bags of trash to help beautify the community.
Police Chief Steve Minner discussed the potential implementation of speed cameras throughout the Village as a measure to help reduce speeding and improve traffic safety.
