Adam Sanchez, Public Works Director, discussed the start of the Starlight & Paradise road repair project, which began Monday and is expected to be completed by the end of May. He also addressed the current water levels at Alto Lake and shared that the duck pond in front is expected to fill soon, allowing water to be pulled from it to help refill the main lake.
Michael Martinez, Deputy Village Manager, provided an update on the 603 Mechem project, noting that PNM is scheduled to begin trenching for power lines. Once that’s complete, the paving, landscaping, and final touches to the project can move forward.
Fire Chief Cade Hall discussed recent firefighter testing, in which three candidates advanced to potential job openings. He also mentioned new internship opportunities available for college students interested in pursuing a career with the fire department.
Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, and David “TBone” Tetreault, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, spoke about the successful Easter Egg event held this past Saturday at its new location in Wingfield Park. TBone also highlighted the recent upgrades at the Dog Park, led by a Boy Scout working toward his Eagle Scout badge. Matthew shared updates on the White Mountain Sports Complex master plan and discussed early ideas for a potential indoor recreation center.
Police Chief Steve Minner addressed several false Facebook posts, including one claiming a baby had been dropped off at the police department, which was untrue. He also reported that a warrant has been issued for the individual responsible for last month’s bomb threat to local schools.
