December 22, 2025: Guests and Topics Discussed:
Ron Sena, Village Manager, discussed the Colonias Grant recently awarded to the Village and outlined how the funding will be used. He also joined Mayor Crawford in responding to a listener question about condemned properties along Sudderth Drive, explaining why the buildings have not yet been demolished.
Josh Long, Public Works Assistant Director, provided an update on the Flume Canyon paving project, noting that Public Works crews will continue work throughout the week.
Levi Beaty, Public Works Director, shared updates on the sewer line extension in the White Mountain area, landscaping progress at the 603 Mechem workforce housing project, and the solar project underway at the Village’s water treatment plant.
Austin Meuli, Assistant Fire Chief, reported that the U.S. Forest Service has raised the local fire risk level to moderate and that the Village may consider increasing its own fire level accordingly. He also discussed the installation of new emergency sirens and the ongoing testing during the final phase.
Lin Weir, Deputy Emergency Manager, explained how the emergency sirens are used during both scheduled testing and real emergency situations.
Anthony Montes, Community Center Supervisor, announced that the Village has been awarded a $2.1 million grant to fund upgrades and improvements to the Community Center.
Matthew Baird, Parks and Recreation Director, gave an update on recent cleanup and improvement efforts at the Grindstone Lake parking lot.
Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events and Strategic Partnerships, discussed the Village docuseries and the possibility of it airing on The Weather Channel.
Steve Minner, Police Chief, introduced two new police officers—Colin Bymoen and Luis Valenzuela—who were officially sworn in by the Mayor. Chief Minner also provided updates on a recent dog-related incident and another incident involving a suspect who pulled a knife on crews installing the new emergency sirens.
