Fire Chief Cade Hall & Assistant Fire Chief Austin Meuli opened the program with an overview of multiple structure fires that occurred over the weekend, including mutual aid provided to Ruidoso Downs Fire Department for a fire at an abandoned trailer behind Big O Tires. They also urged residents affected by downed power lines to have licensed electricians inspect their properties for potential hidden fire hazards.

Eric Queller, Emergency Manager, provided a recap of last week’s ice and snowstorm and responded to listener questions about the REACH survey. He emphasized the importance of completing the survey for residents and businesses impacted by the storm to ensure accurate damage reporting and recovery planning.

Levi Beaty, Public Works Director, updated listeners on ongoing road plowing efforts, noting that downed trees and power lines significantly slowed progress. He also shared updates on the 603 Mechem housing project and the property located at 99 Sunny Slope Drive.

Stephanie Long, Manager & Curator, Wingfield Heritage House Museum, promoted the Wingfield Heritage House’s Valentine’s Day event and shared a piece of local history connected to the community’s snowplow.

Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships, spoke about future event concepts for Ruidoso and discussed how the community can continue to move forward amid uncertainty surrounding the future of the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack.

Police Chief Steve Minner closed the show by addressing the sudden passing of Ruidoso Downs Police Chief Hargrove and outlining plans for a police procession to honor him. He also discussed the department's current staffing needs, noting three open positions.
