February 9, 2026: Guests and Topics Discussed:
• Stephanie Long, Curator & Manager, Wingfield Heritage House Museum, opened the show with a brief history of early NASA activity in southern New Mexico and highlighted the museum’s Time Turners Book Club, a collaborative program hosted in partnership with the public library.
• Levi Beaty, Public Works Director, shared updates on major infrastructure projects, including the upcoming Apache Hills water line project and paving improvements planned throughout the Village, notably on West White Mountain Drive. He also provided progress reports on lift station improvements and the 603 Mechem Housing Project.
• Isaac Garcia, Wastewater Treatment Director, explained why residents should avoid pouring grease and oil down drains, detailing how these substances damage wastewater systems. He also discussed ongoing plant improvement projects, including Headworks, UV, and Solar upgrades.
• Austin Meuli, Assistant Fire Chief, reminded residents to inspect their properties for hazardous trees and broken limbs following the recent ice and snowstorm. He also discussed how the fire department supports neighboring communities while maintaining adequate staffing and resources within the Village.
• Tim Duckworth, Ruidoso Midtown Association Executive Director, previewed upcoming Midtown events planned for the year, including WagFest in May and Brewdoso in June.
• Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, discussed an upcoming improvement project at the Eagle Creek Sports Complex made possible through a Quality-of-Life Grant.
• Anthony Montes, Community Center Director, shared details about low-cost breakfast and lunch options offered on Wednesdays and Fridays, along with an overview of the many services and weekly classes available at the Community Center.
• Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships, provided updates from Lincoln County Days in Santa Fe and offered a preview of key items scheduled for discussion at the upcoming Lodgers Tax meeting.
• Steve Minner, Police Chief, closed the show by addressing last week’s Midtown bomb threat, explaining how pranksters may be using Midtown cameras to track response efforts. He also discussed DUI enforcement and the long-term consequences of having a DUI on record.
