Levi Beaty, Public Works Director, provided an update on a water leak that occurred Sunday in the Sunny Slope area, along with progress on solar panel and UV upgrades at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and ongoing flood control work at the 603 Mechem housing project.
Josh Long, Assistant Public Works Director, discussed snow removal efforts following last Friday’s winter storm and the coordinated response by Public Works crews.
Eric Queller, Emergency Manager, explained how the village emergency notification system was used to notify residents about the Sunny Slope water leak and encouraged the public to register at CallMeRuidoso.com to receive future emergency alerts.
Cade Hall, Fire Chief, cautioned residents about the dangers of using electrical heat tape on pipes during freezing conditions and recommended safer alternatives such as pipe insulation and allowing faucets to drip.
Samuel Haas, with Able City, spoke about this week’s Comprehensive Plan Public Charrette at the Ruidoso Convention Center and encouraged community participation to help shape the Village’s future.
Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, and James Triplett, Youth & Adult Recreation Supervisor, shared updates on the current basketball season, spring sports registration, and upcoming improvements planned for the Eagle Creek Sports Complex.
Steve Andrus, with XTERRA, discussed preparations underway for the World Championships scheduled to take place in Ruidoso this October.
Steve Minner, Police Chief, outlined plans for new speed enforcement cameras, including a permanent school zone camera and two portable units that will be deployed at various locations around the Village.
Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships, and Stephanie Long, Wingfield Heritage House Museum Curator, were also present during the program.
