Mayor Lynn Crawford & Village Manager Ron Sena: Recapped the successful inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Ruidoso, discussed the event’s positive impact and strong community response, answered a listener question about the proposed green fuel plant near the airport, introduced Lara Price as the Village’s new Economic Development Director, and provided updates on Village initiatives.
Heath Dobrovolny, Deputy Village Manager, updated listeners on the Emergency Watershed Buyout Program and recognized the extensive support provided by partner agencies during IRONMAN weekend, including New Mexico State Police, Lincoln County Medical Center, the National Weather Service, and numerous other organizations.
Levi Beaty, Public Works Director, shared progress on paving projects throughout the Village, including work beginning on White Mountain Meadows Drive, and reported that the 603 Mechem project is nearing completion, with final paving expected to begin this week.
Fire Chief Cade Hall announced the department’s new 1,000-gallon pump truck is expected to arrive this week and discussed the Fire Department’s role during IRONMAN weekend, including multiple water rescues during the swim events.
Vyanca Vega, Village Employee Committee, announced the Department and Employees of the Quarter. Parks & Recreation was recognized as Department of the Quarter, while Andrew Sullens (Administration), Isaiah Spitty (Community Services), Elaine Sanchez (Public Works), and Ezequiel Alvarez (Public Works) were honored as Employees of the Quarter.
Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships & Todd Fitzgerald, IRONMAN 70.3 Ruidoso, reflected on the inaugural race weekend, highlighting overwhelmingly positive feedback from athletes, the community, and viewers of the official livestream, and discussed the event’s successful debut in Ruidoso.
Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, announced that Grindstone Lake and the Wibit reopened following IRONMAN weekend and discussed scheduled lighting upgrades at the Eagle Creek Softball Fields, with work expected to begin September 1.
Stephanie Long, Wingfield Heritage House Curator, promoted the Boots and Brands Family Fun Day on July 25 and encouraged listeners to attend the Cloudcroft Museum Festival on July 18.
Police Chief Steve Minner & Deputy Chief Jason Janopolous discussed public safety operations during the busy weekend, addressed a minor vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident that resulted in only minor injuries, and answered listener questions about the Village’s new automated speed enforcement program, including how it will be implemented and enforced.
