June 15, 2026: Guests and Topics Discussed

  • Deputy Village Manager Heath Dobrovolny discussed the Recovery and Assistance Town Hall meeting, scheduled for this evening at the Ruidoso Convention Center. He encouraged residents to attend and learn more about the recovery initiative.

  • Public Works Director Levi Beaty provided an update on the recently completed MAP Project in the Airport West area. As one of the final improvements, new blacktop has been installed on White Mountain Drive.

  • Community Development Director Chris Camacho joined the program to discuss his new role and explain the responsibilities of the Community Development Department, including permitting services for new construction, residential improvements, and other property-related projects.

  • Fire Chief Cade Hall and Emergency Manager Eric Queller discussed several lightning-caused fires that occurred throughout the area last week, as well as the house fire and explosion in Ruidoso Downs on Thursday evening. Hall also spoke about the possibility of acquiring a new ladder truck for the Village Fire Department. Queller announced that sandbag distribution sites at Wingfield Park and the Ruidoso Convention Center are open Monday through Friday to help residents prepare for monsoon season.

  • Ali Rye, Director of the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, called in to discuss her visit to Ruidoso. She is assisting residents with questions regarding the Emergency Watershed Protection Buyout Program and working with Village officials on watershed projects and an upcoming housing workshop.

  • Logan Fleharty promoted this weekend’s Tattoo Expo and Car Show, taking place Friday through Sunday at the Ruidoso Convention Center.

  • Preston Marshall of No Dogs Left Behind discussed the organization’s dog rescue and training efforts and its ongoing work throughout the region.

  • Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events and Strategic Partnerships, promoted this week’s Cool Summer Nights concert featuring Moksi and highlighted the launch of new air service from Contour Airlines, which begins June 25.

  • Stephanie Long, Curator of the Wingfield Heritage House Museum, discussed the museum’s new exhibit, Lines Across the Land: Maps of Ruidoso & New Mexico, which opened last week. She also promoted her upcoming library presentation, Snapshots in Time: Unlocking the History of Your Photographs, scheduled for Thursday, June 18, as part of the Ruidoso Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program.

  • Parks and Recreation Director Matthew Baird discussed the potential costs and challenges associated with developing a new indoor pool and recreation center. Drawing from his experience helping create similar facilities in Hobbs and Lovington, he shared insights into construction costs and long-term operational considerations.

  • Deputy Police Chief Jason Janopolous concluded the program with this week’s police report, reviewing recent police activity and discussing locations where new speed trailers will be deployed to help reduce speeding throughout the Village.
