Emergency Manager Eric Queller discussed this week’s expected high temperatures and the possibility of monsoon rains arriving as early as next Tuesday. He reminded residents that wildfire preparedness remains essential despite recent rainfall and the anticipated arrival of the monsoon season.
Assistant Fire Chief Austin Meuli provided an update on current fire restrictions, noting that the Village remains under Level II fire restrictions. He also discussed the department’s efforts to purchase two new fire trucks and explained that a formal request for approval will be presented to the Village Council.
Deputy Village Manager Heath Dobrovolny highlighted preparations and terminal upgrades at the regional airport ahead of this week’s inaugural Contour Airlines flight. He also updated listeners on the flood buyout program, noting that just over 200 of the more than 300 eligible properties have been approved and are currently undergoing appraisals pending owner approval.
Public Works Director Levi Beaty reported on recent water leak repairs near Chase Street and Aspen Circle. He also provided updates on the 603 Mechem Housing Project, where siding installation has been completed and fencing is nearly finished, as well as ongoing paving work in the Innsbrook neighborhood.
Stephanie Long, Curator of the Wingfield Heritage House Museum, discussed this weekend’s Family Fun Day, which will feature a Colonial America theme. She also announced the July Meeting Time Turners Book Club, Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation.
Parks and Recreation Director Matthew Baird recapped a busy weekend throughout the Village, including Brewdoso at Wingfield Park, Midtown Market, and heavy attendance at Grindstone Lake. He reported that more than 500 WIBIT passes were sold during the weekend.
Police Chief Steve Minner and Deputy Chief Jason Janopoulos discussed the deployment of the department’s new Automated Speed Enforcement Cameras. They explained the camera locations and that there is posted signage in affected areas.
