  • Fire Chief Cade Hall gave an update on the Bear Canyon Fire that occurred over the weekend on the reservation. He also discussed the U.S. Forest Service elevating the Lincoln National Forest to Stage 2 fire restrictions, aligning with the level II restrictions currently in place for the Village.

  • Eric Queller, Emergency Manager, spoke about the new mobile command trailer and its successful first deployment during the Renaissance Faire last weekend.

  • Michael Martinez, Deputy Village Manager, provided updates on the conclusion of the private property debris cleanup program, noting that remaining properties may fall under the clean and lean enforcement program. He also shared progress reports on the 603 Mechem and Elk Meadows apartment development projects.

  • Adam Sanchez, Public Works Director, responded to a listener's question regarding water access for the Elk Meadows apartment project. He also gave an update on the Starlight/Paradise Canyon Road improvements, noting that Paradise Canyon may be temporarily opened over the holiday weekend.

  • Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, and David “TBone” Tetreault, Assistant Director, announced the opening of registration for this summer’s Rec Youth Summer Wilderness Camps. They also previewed the seasonal Midtown Market, which returns on June 7th.

  • Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships, talked about the upcoming New Mexico Municipal League’s annual conference, which will be hosted in the Village later this year.

  • Police Chief Steve Minner warned the public about a noticeable increase in bear activity around the Village. He also provided information on how citizens can contact the police department for non-emergency support.
