Mayor Lynn Crawford & Village Manager Ron Sena: Hosted this week’s Mondays with the Mayor with updates from Village department leaders and community partners on emergency preparedness, public works projects, recreation, XTERRA World Championship activities, upcoming community events, and public safety.
Fire Chief Cade Hall & Emergency Manager Eric Queller: Discussed the New Mexico Local Heroes Fund Awards Ceremony, where Ruidoso Fire Captain Justin Mize was honored as Firefighter of the Year. Queller addressed the potential for heavy rainfall over the next several days from the remnants of Hurricane Polo and the Village’s move to Ready status beginning Monday at noon. They also discussed last week’s flooding in Hondo, emphasizing that flash flooding can occur outside burn scar areas, and clarified that a siren reported in Upper Canyon over the weekend was not a Village emergency siren.
Public Works Director Levi Beaty: Provided updates on the 603 Mechem housing project, Highway 70 manhole replacement project, and Two Rivers intake project. Gutters at 603 Mechem are expected to be completed this week, while work on the Highway 70 and Two Rivers projects may be temporarily paused because of expected weather.
Deputy Village Manager Heath Dobrovolny: Recapped the Village surplus auction held over the weekend, reporting that all items were sold and the event was a success.
Parks & Recreation Director Matthew Baird: Updated listeners on the Eagle Creek Sports Complex project and the upcoming Toss No Mas cleanup event. He also announced that Grindstone Lake and the Disc Golf Course will be closed next week for XTERRA events.
Steve Andrus, XTERRA: Previewed activities leading up to the XTERRA World Championship events at Grindstone Lake and Wingfield Park, including what residents and visitors can expect during championship week.
Wingfield Heritage House Museum Curator Stephanie Long: Shared upcoming museum activities and community participation, including Aspenfest and XTERRA community activities.
Deputy Police Chief Jason Janopolous: Updated listeners on the Ruidoso Automated Speed Enforcement Program, including the start of citations from the Hull Road camera and fewer violations at the Paradise Canyon and Junction Road locations. He also discussed the deployment of the department’s new bicycle patrol unit during the Aspenfest Parade and XTERRA events.
