January 9, 2023: This week, Adam Sanchez, the public works director for the Village of Ruidoso, visited the show to inform us of plans to improve Sudderth and Upper Canyon. Village Clerk Jini Turri shed light on the council meetings and streaming options available. Tim Roberts reported on the Wingfield House Heritage Center and Convention Center. Fire Chief Joe Kasuboski and forest director Dick Cooke discussed fire prevention and forestry thinning projects, while Judi Starkovich, finance director, talked about Village budgeting and GRT. Chief Lawrence Chavez outlined holiday police activities and the upcoming Citizens Police Academy.

October 3, 2022: Guests Todd Oberheu and Councilor Jackson join the show this week to discuss the upcoming Mill Levy on the ballot in November and its importance for the Lincoln County Medical Center, and the services and opportunities the hospital provides to the village and surrounding communities. David “TBone” Tetreault was in the studio to talk about the Toss No Mas Community Cleanup on Sunday, Oct 16 at 1 pm at Wingfield Park. Police Chief Lawrence Chavez was in giving his weekly police report including discussing the successful new AspenFest parade pre-stage location and also cautioned residents to be cautious of phone scams and auto/home burglaries during the holiday season.

September 26, 2022: Mayor Crawford and Village Officials recapped highlights from the successful Downshift Brewing Company's Oktoberfest in Midtown last weekend. Also discussed was the October 1-2, 2022, AspenFest celebration with a 10:00 AM parade through Midtown, immediately followed by fun, food, music, and drinks at Wingfield Park. Police Chief Chavez reported on the investigation status of a Ruidoso woman’s abduction and the primitive human skull that was found on a Ruidoso construction site as well as details on the new training simulator and Citizens Police Academy. 

September 19, 2022: Mayor Crawford and Village Officials recapped highlights from the inaugural Ride Ruidoso Week 2022 benefit event. Police Chief Chavez reported on the investigation status of a Ruidoso woman’s abduction and the primitive human skull that was found on a Ruidoso construction site. Construction updates were provided on several ongoing projects and Jamie and Case from Downshift Brewing joined the show to discuss their September 24, 2022, Midtown Oktoberfest event including bands, contests, and food/beer offerings.

September 12, 2022: Mayor Crawford and Village Officials expressed 9/11 remembrances. Police Chief Chavez reported on the primitive human skull that was found on a Ruidoso construction site. The new Village Clerk Jini Turri joined the show along with Carson Stetheimer, a student member of the Ruidoso Gymnastics Association to promote their 2022 Online Auction fundraiser. Members of the Capitan Tigers Cheerleaders squad were also in the studio to announce their participation in the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving parade in New York City and to receive a donation from the Ruidoso Jockey Club to help fund their travel.

August 29, 2022: Show topics this week included status updates on the Wingfield House Museum, the temporary cessation of the Sudderth Drive address changes, and upcoming events including the inaugural September 12 - 18, 2022 Ride Ruidoso Week. Police Chief Chavis was in with detective Seth Carruth to discuss an injured free-roaming horse and what the police can do to help. The Mayor also did the official swearing-in of new Detective Matt Christian.

August 22, 2022: Show topics this week included Phase II of the Horton Complex project, the opening of the Screaming Eagle Mountain Coaster during Ride Ruidoso Week, September 12 - 18, 2022, and the recent GRT report and Excess Tax. The Mayor expressed his condolences for George (Trout Man) Schlemeyer, a beloved local resident and avid fisherman who passed away recently. Also discussed were area sports. Emergency Manager Danielle Coronado and Fire Chief Joe Kasuboski joined the show to discuss village flooding preparations and responses. Police Chief Lawrence Chavez was in the studio with information about school zone traffic patterns, stolen traffic signs, and speed study reports.

August 15, 2022: Show topics this week included infrastructure updates about the Paradise Canyon Paving Project and the NMDOT Mechem Drive surface maintenance beginning August 22, 2022. Also discussed was the retirement of Rodney Griego as Parks and Recreation Director and the search for his replacement and other village job opportunities. Chief Chavez was in the studio with information about new traffic patterns in school zones and ways the PD dispatch can communicate directly with the school district in case of an emergency.

August 8, 2022: Show topics this week included infrastructure updates on the Paradise Canyon paving project and proposed plans for a disc golf course in the Eagle Creek area. Upcoming events discussed included the August 13-14, 2022, First Annual Sierra Blanca Pow Wow at the Ruidoso Convention Center and Downshift Brewing Company’s Midtown Oktoberfest on September 24, 2022, featuring stein-hoisting contests, German food, live music, and more. Local Musician/Promotor, Jhett Black joined the show to promote a September singer-songwriter night at Sacred Grounds, and Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez was in the studio with back-to-school traffic safety tips and parade safety precautions for the annual Aspen Fest parade and Festival on October 1-2, 2022.

Fire Chief Kasuboski was in the studio to introduce the new Assistant Fire Chief Ross Coleman, the need for additional firefighters, and the return to Level 1 fire restrictions. Listener Andre Hernandez called in to discuss the need for food security and steps people can take to be prepared if and when the need arises. June 6, 2022: Show topics this week included the Cienegita Fire on the Mescalero Reservation and the lifting of the READY status for all affected Ruidoso neighborhoods. Also discussed was the June 7 Village Council Workshop Meeting regarding village workforce needs. County Commission Candidate Alice Velasquez telephoned in to discuss her campaign. Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez Police Chief joined the show to discuss the gun violence and the procedures and training that Ruidoso Police have in place for such events. Curtis Williamson of Schlotzsky’s was in the studio to discuss the impact of workforce challenges to his business.

May 9, 2022: Show topics this week included event recaps from the May 5 and 6 Cinco de Mayo Celebration and the May 5 Cabinet In Your Community public meeting. Village Water Rights and Water Conservation Specialist Eric Boyda joined the show to discuss the May 9 McBride and Nogal Canyon Post-fire BAER Cooperators Public Meeting and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) efforts to find unseen water leaks with acoustic leak detection technology. Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez reported on the regional impact of recreational cannabis legalization and village officials provided status updates for road construction projects including the Town and Country area, Grindstone, Gavilan Canyon, and Paradise Canyon.

April 25, 2022: Blues musician Jhett Black joined the show this week to discuss his invitation to the International Blues Competition in Memphis and his upcoming performances including his An Evening of Blues and BBQ on May 20 at Enchanted Vine. Heather McCurry of the DEA, phoned in to discuss the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Program scheduled for April 30, 2022, from 10 AM to 2 PM for the safe disposal of unneeded medications. The dropoff site is the Ruidoso Police Department at 1085 Mechem Drive. Congresswoman Yvette Herrell, State Treasurer candidate Harry Montoya, and County Commissioner candidate Mark Fisher each telephoned in to discuss their respective campaigns.

April 18, 2022: Topics discussed this week included the McBride Fire emergency with Ruidoso Fire Chief Joe Kasuboski joining the show to address the siren test and PNM power failure. Ruidoso Schools Superintendent Dr. George Bickert phoned in to report that there was no structural damage to the Middle and High schools and only the lingering smell of smoke that will be addressed. Ed Greene from the NM Baptist Disaster Relief group was in the studio to discuss how their services are ready to provide help to fire victims. Twelfth district Division 2 Judge Ellen Jesson also joined the show to discuss her upcoming run for re-election.
